Wrapping Up The Holiday Season!
We had a very quiet Christmas this year. We enjoyed getting to see so much of the family, but greatly missed those of you whom we didn't get to see! It was also a very meager Christmas...
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, but "pup-corn" was all to be found ... anywhere! : )
Happy New Year, everyone!

Thanksgiving
It was a joy to have my girls and their families home again. We really enjoyed spoiling Lukey. He has such an eye for detail. It's going interesting to see how much he's learned by the next time we see him. We enjoyed seeing almost all of the Dodson family. That was a nice surprise, especially since we didn't get to see the Rusk family.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and stays healthy, wealthy and wise. Well, healthy anyway.
PS. Thank you girls for helping in the kitchen as much as you did. That was a treat!

Early Release!!
Just to throw you all off I'm putting out my November release in October! You see the only reason I'm doing this blog is to keep in touch with the lives of my family who has chosen to move out west. (I know Kentucky isn't really west, but it's further west then West Virginia)
I felt badly that everyone was making far more entries than I, but now...maybe they are too busy to keep in touch with their mother. Maybe I should help them with their blogs and make up exciting stories of what might be going on if only they were to be kind enough to share it with me themselves.
Let's see...like Cassie and Paul drove to the big city of Chicago this weekend to buy a new piece of furniture for their apartment. Wait. That is true...Ah, but see I know that because Cassie called me this weekend.
Katie on the other hand I have no idea what may be going on with her. So, let's see, Katie tried this wonderful new recipie for Chicken Pot Pie that Oprah featured on her show this week. She had the whole house filled with the aroma of roasted chicken and corn bread when Danny came home from work. To make it yummy for Lukey she put the veggies and chicken through the food grinder first. Mashed Chicken Pot Pie. Mmmm Danny had 3 helpings to make sure she knew how much he appreciated her effort. She decided that since it was such a big hit she would volunteer to make enough for our Thanksgiving dinner in Virginia! She knows her mother would be so proud!

September in October
I didn't make it in time for September!! School is in session and this month has gone by fast. We have been working, eating and sleeping it seems.
I've been trying to get ready for the holiday season. This year I've attempted crocheting.
I'm tempted to put up the tree early, so I can see how the garland will look. We should have just left it up. As it was we didn't take it down until almost summer! We should probably wait a little while longer.

August 08
We made it to Kentucky to visit Katie, Danny and Lukey! It was so nice getting to see Lukey. He has grown a couple of inches since July I think. It was such a surprise to Ken when he saw Cassie. He was not expecting that at all.
We stayed in Bowling Green just a few miles away. Danny and Katie had just moved into their new home that week, and I'm sure were glad to have some peace and quite. (well as much as can be had with a baby around) It gave us a chance to reguvinate ourselves. It takes a lot of energy to love on Lukey. I wish we were able to be with him daily to see all of the little subtle changes as he figures things out and discovers this world. It's amazing how fast they grow.
We'll always treasure those memories with our two girls, and I grow more and more appreciative of having my sisters and their kids so close by during those years. Our parents moved us away from our aunts/uncles and cousins when we were in elementary/jr high. We really didn't have a chance to get very close with any of them.
Maybe our grandchildren will in turn live near their siblings and our great grandchildren will have that same bond our children had. Things go in cycles.
Oh well, so much for sentamentalness. We go back to work in a few days. Back to our routines. I think that works better for me. I tend to get more accomplished. We hopefully won't have to add anyone to our carpool. I would greatly miss "our time". This economy is making things tight for everyone though. That too tends to go in cycles.
Take care everyone!
